Museum access

There is a ramp to the front of the building, allowing access for wheelchair users and buggies.

A buggy park in a small building adjacent to the museum is provided for the secure storage of buggies in purpose-built lockers. These are operated using a refundable £1 coin or a trolley token.

Unfortunately, buggies aren’t allowed around the museum due to space restrictions.

There are two disabled parking bays outside the museum, as well as plenty of free parking on Eastern Parade.

The first floor is only accessible via stairs. There is a screen near the entrance to The Butterfly House with a live feed to the Observational Beehive on the first floor. Please note, currently this screen is out of action. We will carry out repair works as soon as possible.

An accessible toilet and baby changing facilities are available.

Induction loops for hearing impaired visitors are installed.

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs wearing appropriate tabards are permitted in all galleries. Non-assistance dogs are not allowed in the building but can be walked on leads in the garden.
