Cumberland House Natural History Museum is ideal for group visits, with a host of different exhibitions and galleries to suit all interests and age groups. For information on school visits, head to the Schools page.

If you’re booking a group visit to see a certain item or exhibition, the time of year may be a consideration to factor into your plans. The butterflies are only on the wing from May to September. They come in as pupae during this period, from which they grow into our beautiful butterflies.

Similarly, the Observational Beehive will have different aspects to consider and look out for, depending on the time of year and weather conditions outside.

Please note, groups should be of no more than 30 in total in the museum at any one time. There can be no more than 20 people in The Butterfly House simultaneously. Larger groups can be split into smaller numbers to ensure certain areas don’t get overcrowded and everyone gets as much time and space as they need for each part of the museum.

All group visits, small or large, should be booked through us in advance. Please email us with your requirements, or telephone 023 9283 4744 / 4737 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) to book.

There is no charge for self-led group visits.

The nearest designated coach park is at The D-Day Story on Clarence Esplanade, one mile from the museum.
